Méditation from Thaïs - First post - from Kelly and Marty

Updated: Mar 26, 2020

Dear Shawnee Presbyterian Church members -

Since we may not be seeing each other for some time, I thought it would be nice to share some music with you in a different way. Being isolated and unable to attend church services, concerts, and many other activities, we are at least fortunate to have the internet to connect with one another.

About this music: Jules Massenet’s opera, “Thaïs” was premièred on March 16, 1894 - 126 years ago this Monday! Its famous Méditation, the entr'acte for violin and orchestra played between the scenes of act 2, is an often-performed concert music piece; it has been arranged for many different instruments.

Click on the link below to hear our arrangement for french horn and piano from a CD my husband I recorded in 2013. As you listen, pray for all those that are affected by Covid-19, either directly or indirectly. We will weather this storm together!

In His Name,

Your Director of Music 🎵,
